SATURDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2018

We had a very interesting branch meeting on Saturday.  A meeting where we had begun to wonder if we would end up with a speaker.  Our first speaker from John James Needles was unable to come to the branch due to illness.
Our programme secretary decided to try and have some of the Guild Folios delivered to us, while at the same time another member told us Cheryl Penna from Durham branch would give us a talk on the Durham Broderers.
All well and good.  Breathe a sigh of relief but unfortunately Cheryl also became ill and could not attend.  Again fortunately Melitta Butterill, also from Durham branch, stepped in and said she would do the talk instead.  So our meeting went ahead.

Melitta gave us a really informative and delightful talk on the Broderers and the absolutely beautiful work they had done over the years for the Cathedral.

Some of the samples were so intricate, detailed, so cleverly designed and so equisitely worked.

It was a real privilege to listen to Melitta and I think we all gained a valuable insight in to the work of Durham Broderers.
