Artist Profile at Oekaki World...

Came across a new to me website the other evening and thought you all might be interested in it.

"Oekaki World is all about celebrating the clever and creative of the sewing world "

I found it via Mandy Patalluo and as we'd had Mandy as one of our guest speakers a while ago thought you might like to read what she had to say...  Artist Profile

Unique Art Residency in Appleton le Moors...

You still have time to visit this 'art installation' in Appleton le Moors

"Yorkshire based artist Anne Thalheim inspired a group of her friends and neighbours from Appleton Le Moors to create a unique art installation in four community buildings. Their artwork celebrates the annual events, interest groups, history and crucially, the volunteers who year after year, ensure these building's are maintained, funded and continue to provide for this small village of about 70 houses.

The making of these 'canvases' took place over the glum winter months of 2014/2015. The project has refreshed old acquaintances and forged new friendships. It has utilised the wide ranging creativity within the group and built  confidence and enthusiasm to depict the many aspects and activities of life in Appleton."
You can read more about it here on  Pressing Matters & Sewing
Jennifer Tetlow has this to say about her visit...  here
I have it on my list of 'things I'd like to do' this month, if I manage to get there I'll make sure to take a few photos.... :)

Cool Hunting Video...

Another video to watch....  hope you enjoy it....

The chap talking in this video is from Sri Threads...

Monday Workshop 11th May, 2015

Barbara will be starting us off on a piece of Hardanger embroidery.

Requirements:-
  • Evenweave fabric approx 8" square
  • Hoop - optional
  • Blunt tapestry needle
  • Pearl cotton no.8 thread

Hardanger is usually worked on 22count thread.   However, Barbara uses 28 count Lugana fabric.

It would be helpful if the fabric had tacked guidelines ready.
