SATURDAY 6th AUGUST 2016 NATIONAL DAY OF STITCH

This years National Day of Stitch for our branch took place in Strikes Garden Centre in Stokesley.
We were made very welcome by the staff in Strikes and had a most enjoyable day.  At different times during the day 14 of us stitched leaves which was this years theme.

As you can see we've already got a good selection of
leaves made by various members of the branch at
Monday workshop.

It was a very pleasant day for all of us as it's not very often we have the chance to get together and
have a pleasant days stitching.
Thanks go to Strikes staff who ensured we had everything we needed.

SATURDAY 2nd JULY BRANCH MEETING with NONA JENKINS AMERICAN QUILTS - THE UNDERGROUND RAILWAY

We had a very enjoyable meeting on Saturday 2nd July.  Our
guest speaker, Nona Jenkins gave us an extremely interesting talk on American quilts and in particular on the Underground Railway.  This was the name of the organisation that helped black slaves escape from the Southern States of America to Canada and freedom.

Nona brought along all sorts of small quilts to illustrate the ways that messages were passed along.
She also showed us some of the beautiful quilts that she had made.
