About

Welcome to the online home of the Guisborough Branch of the Embroiderers' Guild. We meet at Sunnyfield House 36 Westgate Guisborough North Yorkshire TS14 6BA on the first Saturday of the month. See our programme for the wide range of speakers booked for the next year. We try to include talks from speakers expert in traditional techniques as well as some more modern textile artists using a variety of medias. In June we normally have a trip out somewhere. In August we take a break. Our AGM takes place in October. Visitors welcome.

  1. Hi there. I previously have visited your guild to give one of my talks. I now have new ranges of talks and wondered who best to get in touch with as regards a new booking? Best Wishes, Ailish www.ailishhenderson.com

I take part in Leeds university International Medieval Congress every year, and have been teaching medieval embroidery and opus anglicanum techniques at the Ashmolean in Oxford and Lakeside arts in Nottingham for several years now. Last week I gave a talk for the embroiderer's guild in Broadwell, Oxfordshire.

  3. Hi, I have been clearing out inherited fabrics, ribbons etc and have a mixed bag including a lot of sheer fabric for layering and using with disposable fabric and machine embroidery. I am looking for a good home for it. Please contact me if you know of anyone who could make use of any of it, and we can figure out how to get to them. There is also some clothes fabric and zips, tape etc.
    Thank you Tamzin

  5. Hello Tamzin, Sorry not to reply earlier, the blog has taken a back seat recently. I don't know how we would pick up any fabric etc but we took a lot of stuff to the Art College at Middlesbrough, Green Lane earlier in the year and they were delighted to have it. They have textile students who would use all sorts of stuff. Hope this helps. Linda Danby.

  6. Thank you, I've given them material before, but the students are not there now. I was thinking someone who's self isolating might want it now. Never mind.
