PYTHON GALLERY OUR TREE OF BIRDS
We have a lovely tree full of very colourful birds as one of our collective pieces for the exhibition.
The birds were cut out in felt by Jane G. and then stitched by lots of branch members as a joint project. Thank you to everyone who took part and especially to Jane for all her work.

Saturday's meeting
Our speaker this month is Janet Barker. Her talk is called 'Don't be Afraid to Experiment'. Janet is a local textile artist inspired by our wonderful Yorkshire countryside. She describes herself as a 'fabric magpie' so I think we all will have something in common with her there!
Janet was booked to speak last year but we had to cancel because of bad weather. Fingers crossed for this Saturday.
The raffle colour for February is purple, from the palest lilac to the deepest plum.

LOOKING FORWARD TO PYTHON GALLERY EXHIBITION
As part of our preparations for our exhibition in the Python Gallery, Royal Middlehaven House, Gosford Street, Middlesbrough. TS2 1BB we have embroidered a copy of Van Gogh's Sunflowers.
A panel of the sunflowers was cut into 24 pieces and branch members had a lucky dip as to which piece they embroidered. On Saturday at the branch meeting they were all on display for the first time. They looked lovely and there were so many different techniques to admire. Well done everyone.
The exhibition runs from 16th January to 26 March.

WEDNESDAY 28TH NOVEMBER
We took our red, white and blue decorations to St. Nicholas church to decorate our tree as part of the
Christmas Tree festival. The colours were chosen as part of the 100 years since the end of the First World War.
About 28 oranisations from Guisborough took part. The church looked lovely when they were all set up.

SATURDAY 1ST DECEMBER
We had our Christmas party on Saturday 1st December. It was a lovely afternoon with plenty of time for everyone to catch up and have a good chat.
As usual we had a beautiful spread for our afternoon tea with lots of delicious homemade food.
Each year we try to have a small "craft" to make for those who want to join in. This year we were making felt birds very kindly prepared for us by Jane G.; they are to hang on the tree as part of our exhibition at the Python Gallery from the 16th Jan 2019.
